We are Damian and Franziska. Your hosts at La Giuseppina.

Italy has always been a big part of our lives. Damian’s father emigrated from Basilicata to Switzerland in the late 1960s, where he found not only work, but also the love of his life. At Damian’s family home, the best pasta is made and the most delicious fish dishes are served – many of them still prepared today according to Nonna Giuseppina’s recipes.

During and after her studies as a textile designer, Franziska spent several years working in Como and living on Lake Como. In her little white Fiat Panda, she would drive the winding roads along the lake every day, always carrying a little piece of the Italian way of life with her.

When designing La Giuseppina, it was important to us to preserve as much of the apartment’s original character as possible: the arches, the different ceilings, the various floors and the distinctive colours. Each of these elements tells its own story and gives the apartment its very special charm.

Almost all of the furniture was found second-hand. Around Milan, there are wonderful markets where, with a little luck, you can discover real treasures – provided you get up early enough.

And so La Giuseppina has become a place that reflects our personal connection to Italy: a little bit of Basilicata, a little bit of Lake Como, lots of attention to detail and plenty of Italian joie de vivre.
